Our Story

As members of the Golf Channel league The Golf AM Tour, Blake Barnes and Brandon Casella first met at a “Major” event hosted by South Carolina’s famed Kiawah Island Ocean Course.

During the course of the match, the two quickly realized their shared passion for the sport, enjoyment of fine wines, and love for their country was the beginning of a special partnership.

As a businessman and entrepreneur, Blake combined his executive expertise with Brandon’s experience as an Army Veteran and national sales manager for several top wine and spirit companies. Together, Casella-Barnes Specialty Spirits and Imports was formed to begin blending their passions and pursuits with a greater purpose to serves others.

We believe every veteran who suffers from the invisible wound of PTSD needs to be cared for with dignity and celebrated with love. As an unwavering commitment to this mission, each bottle you purchase from 9 Iron Wines provides helpful resources and critical support to veterans through our partnership with Veteran Causes.

Brandon and Blake are dedicated to the cause of PTSD. This is driven by their personal experiences. Both have mutual friends and separate instances of the tragedy when PTSD is left untreated and the devastation that can unfold effecting the families and friends as well as the community when PTSD if left untreated and undiagnosed. Brandon suffers from PTSD himself.

Winemaker Notes

This enticing wine displays gorgeous aromas of blackberry, plum, dark red fruit and cranberry, with hints of caramel and exotic spices. The luxurious berry notes are echoed on the palate, where they are supported by supple, refined tannins that carries the wine to a long, lush finish.

Composition: 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 16% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, 7% Malbec, 5% Petit

Verdot Production Notes

Throughout California, the growing season provided picture-perfect growing conditions. Following a cool, wet winter and spring, summer brought perfectly temperate weather that created exceptional flavor development in the grapes. Warm weather during harvest ensured ideal ripeness, resulting in dynamic whites with beautiful energy and complexity, and lush and flavorful reds with deep colors.
